It was quite a sad  overnight for Joe Fleury.  During a 13 hour period from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, he was living a dog lover’s worst fear; his dog was lost.

Fleury called WLAF  first thing Thursday morning offering a $500 reward if someone found his lost dog.  And the radio station that bills itself as “The Lost Dog Radio Station” went to work.  Morning announcer Big Josh announced Lady was missing and soon the news was posted to the WLAF website.

Lady, a Tibetan Spaniel, is a member of a breed that has a habit of escaping, Fleury said.  The little Houdini disappeared into the night Wednesday at 9:30 pm  near the East LaFollette Baptist Church.

On Thursday morning, a woman saw a dog that looked lost around the LaFollette United Methodist Church.  When she made it to work, the woman checked WLAF’s website, and there was Fleury’s phone number along with the missing dog details.

Around 10:30 am, Fleury and Lady were reunited when he found her laying up against the Methodist church building.

The Good Samaritan never gave her name and refused any reward money requesting Fleury donate it to the local spay-neuter group.

Though Lady is not a cat, she has had at least two lives.  Fleury said this $1,500 dog was initially found neatly groomed and collarless in the middle of the Norris Freeway about seven years ago.

Fleury guesstimates  Lady is 14 to 15 years old. He is so fond of her that on her passing he plans to have Lady cremated.  Then later, after he passes, she will be buried with him.

  1. We found a fox terrier puppy Thursday (18 Oct) at Hollingsworth Market. Probably around 5-6 months old. White snout, both eyes black, brown and white, very clean, docked tail. The pup is very well mannered. Absolutely enjoys being cuddled and held. He needs to find his owner!!
