“It’s Clinton week,” shouted Campbell Head Football Coach Justin Price during Monday’s practice coming on the heels of the worst defeat* in the Price Era.  The Cougars were loose and upbeat during the afternoon’s drills and sprints as they worked at getting better and getting over Friday’s 56 – 0 loss to the state’s top ranked team in the Fulton Falcons.

After practice, Price, with his team huddled around (PHOTO ABOVE), noted that “it’s the most adversity and injuries I can ever recall in one season.”  But he was quick to say, “You know what’s at stake Friday.”

Winning one of its last two games puts Campbell in the post season for a sixth straight year adding to Price’s already record setting history on The Hill.

Expect to see some freshmen playing against Clinton on Homecoming night. The Orange and Blue will be without Christian Shouse and Cahron Williams.  Both were ejected in the game at Fulton and by rule have to sit out the next game.  Shouse was the first player during Price’s eight seasons at CCHS to be ejected.

Price reminded his team to trust its training that it’s been going through since January as he expects the young to step up and the veterans to support and encourage.  Price will have more players playing both ways this week than in a long time.

Price and his Cougars are poised to make the most of their possessions against Clinton.  The Dragons control the clock and the ball very well with their Wing-T – misdirection offense.  “We’re going to need to be efficient, because we will likely not have many possessions,” said Price.

Clinton is 2 & 6 in all games and 1 & 3 in Region 3 contests.  Campbell is 4 & 4 overall with a region mark of 2 & 2.

  •  Powell defeated the Cougars in 2011 by the same margin as in the Fulton loss; 69 to 13.
