Robert Lloyd Owen (Bob), age 81, of Speedwell passed away from complications of pneumonia Tuesday evening, October 2, 2018.  He was known for his easy laughter, considerable knowledge and intelligence, insightful common sense, and for being a helpful friend to all.

You may have met Bob in the hardware and paint section of the Clinton, TN Walmart; where he worked for the past several years.  You may have met him when he was a parts delivery driver for O’Reilly Auto Parts in the Jacksboro and LaFollette, TN area.  He also had a successful career of 30 years as a civilian Industrial Engineer with the United States Air Force where he was known for conceiving a mathematical formula for vendor selection.  He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio as the Deputy Director of Acquisition Logistics and Systems Command.  During his time in Dayton, Bob also owned and managed rental properties and had a successful part-time Real Estate career.

Robert was born in 1936 in Oblong, IL to Thelma and Marion Robert Owen.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Notre Dame, and a masters degree from Ohio State University.

He is survived by his sons Mark and Todd, Todd’s son’s Tim, Todd II (and Ashley), Michael (and Tisha), and Todd II’s daughter Emmerson.  He is also survived by his step daughter and caretaker Michelle Phillips and her two sons Colton and Joshua.

In respect of his wishes, there will not be a public funeral service
