Senator Ken Yager tells WLAF News, “I am delighted to join Governor Haslam and Rep. Dennis Powers to officially open the general purpose laboratory at Roane State Campbell County. The successful completion of this needed addition, three years in the making, will enable students to complete their coursework on site instead of driving a site outside the county.”

Yager adds, “We started conversations with the Governor three years ago . He saw the value in the project and included the funds ($1.1 million) in his FY17 budget proposal, which was adopted by the General Assembly.”

“The ability of students to complete coursework requiring a lab to stay in the county and avoid an additional drive will encourage them to complete their degree program.” said the Senator.

Yager notes, “In the 21st century most employers are requiring a post secondary certificate or degree.  What we have done here in Campbell County will enable our young citizens to get better  paying  jobs hopefully right here at home.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony is today at 10 am at RSCC in La Follette. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/05/2018-8AM)
