A rough storm with high winds hit Campbell County around 6:30 pm Thursday evening.  The 20-minute storm quickly came and went but not before causing problems.

E-911 Dispatch received several calls one of which involved a tree falling through a house in south Campbell County.  There were no injuries at the home on Murrayville Road.

Jim Mullens, Director of Public Works for the City of La Follette, first dealt with a tree downed blocking South 13th Street at West Hemlock Street.  Around 7 pm, he also surveyed the damage at the V of Hope and Wheeler Lanes where part of a tree fell across Hope Lane.

Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck reports about 15 trees are down around Campbell County.  He along with three crews are out cutting and moving trees as well as clearing away lots of snapped limbs and debris from roadways.

Several scattered power outages were reported.  Caryville and Chesnut Stump Ridge were two of the areas to lose power.  Caryville’s outage numbers were in the 30s at one time and in the 80s on CSR.  LUB crews are working in the rain restoring power from just above Habersham and stretching from Pinecrest to Alder Springs.

Dispatchers at E-911 tell WLAF that calls of problems of downed trees were still coming in at 7:30 pm.  No injuries have been reported.

It’s worth noting.  The National Weather Service issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING over WLAF AM FM and TV Thursday at 5:52 pm.  The storm hit around 6:30 pm.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/31/2018-7:45PM)
