Senior Center marked 50 years in November; has some exciting classes coming up in January

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A busy new year is ahead for the Campbell County Senior Center. The Center celebrated its milestone of 50 years last month at the center at 102 South 8th Street in LaFollette.

The Campbell County Senior Center has some exciting classes coming up in January, including a computer course, as well as the popular Drums Alive cardio drumming class.

The Senior Center will be holding a free three-day computer course January 7th through January 9th. Classes start at 10 am each morning and are open to everyone. The class is being held through the partnership of Connected Nation and the Campbell County Senior Center.

The computer classes will provide “hands-on learning to help seniors stay connected and confident online,” according to Senior Center Administrative Assistant Pat Orta.

The classes will cover computer basics, smartphone basics, internet safety, and so much more—all at no cost.

The Drums Alive, Cardio-Drumming class starts on Tuesday, January 14th and runs through Thursday, February 6. These classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 am until noon.   According to Senior Center Administrative Assistant Pat Orta, “space is limited, so you better sign up soon to reserve your spot.”

Classes are taught by a “certified Drums Alive UT Extension Instructor and provide a “fitness experience for seniors” and an “amazing brain and body workout.”
