LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- LaFollette Police Officer Cheyenne White answered a morning call at Save-A-Lot about a male possibly breaking into a white Hyundai. It was Fri., Oct. 4, at approximately 9 am when Officer White arrived along with Sergeant Isiah Lloyd, and they saw a white Hyundai starting to drive out of the parking lot.

Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver who initially provided a false name and date birth but was later identified as Cody Valentino Bales. Bales did not a have a driver’s license or ID on him or in the vehicle, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department. Officers asked Bales if they could search the vehicle, but he refused the search. While officers were talking with him, he mentioned having a “Marijuana pen” inside the vehicle. That was about when the officers were joined by Lieutenant Matthew Forsyth and his K-9 Diesel who did an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of something in the vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle and found four glass pipes with burnt residue, two pink grinders with a marijuana-like odor, and seven white plastic baggies with white powder residue. They also found four burnt rolled cigarettes with a Marijuana-like odor and green leafy bud substances. In addition, officers discovered four and a half light blue circular pills and one pill cut in half inside a pill bottle.

Bales, 27, 168 Gravely Road, Kingsport was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license, possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of schedule VI controlled substance. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/21/2024-6AM)
