JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Thursday night, the Town of Jacksboro held its monthly meeting.
Frank Wallace, general manager with the Caryville-Jacksboro Utility Commission, spoke about the water issue on Mount Perkins Lane. CJUC has been in contact with people from IRTECH and the State about this issue. He informed the Committee that the Utilities had been cleaning the ditches and stream from Mt. Perkins lane all the way down to Cove Lake and installed a 10 feet tile. CJUC needs the Town’s approval to bring IRTECH in to see if the town can lower the ditch line and remove an existing tile to improve water flow. The Town approved.
The Town approved Mathew Goodman to work for the fire department until he can be sent to the police academy, hopefully in July. Goodman will be hired at $14 an hour with no benefits or insurance.
Purchasing security cameras for the police department building was approved.
Bids are needed for new flooring in the main office.
New Class A uniforms for police officers were quoted at $119.98 each. Daniel Smith, Chief of Police, said with the budget he had, he could get four sets for each officer.
Striping three vehicles, two Durangos and a truck, for the police department would run $475 per vehicle. The Town voted to use the general fund for that expense.
The Town voted to use Truckers Lighthouse to equip the new police truck. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/05/2024-6AM)
