LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A La Follette woman is scheduled to appear in court this morning following her arrest last week at the corner of 21st and Central on the west end of town.
La Follette Police Sergeant Melisa Phillips came into contact with Marie Ann Shears on Tue., Aug. 8, around 5:15pm. The encounter came on the street at 807 West Central Avenue just across the railroad tracks.
Sgt. Phillips had knowledge that Shears had an active capias/bench warrant. Shears had a plastic bag with her that contained a silver wrapper and .25 grams of crystal like shards suspected to be Methamphetamine.
Shears also had a black tar substance that weighed approximately 2.5 grams. The substance was hidden in her shorts that she pulled out. Shears allegedly told officers that it was Marijuana Hashish, according to a report from the La Follette Police Department.
Shears, 37, 5790 General Carl W. Stiner Hwy, La Follette was charged with capias/bench warrant, possession of schedule III controlled substance and possession of schedule VI controlled substance. Shears remains housed in the Campbell County Jail on a $4,000 bond, according to jail records. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/17/2023-6AM)
