LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Monday afternoon the La Follette City Council granted advanced permission for La Follette Utilities to move forward with the Big Four area waterline funding submittal. Dave Cross, La Follette Utilities General Manager, said the project had been pending for a while, and the grant would be a 100% grant.

At next Tuesday afternoon’s regular monthly meeting, the council will vote on whether to send the special audit findings of LUB on to the State Comptroller’s office.
The council discussed the low bid from Boshears Paving for $43,200 for sealing and striping the rear parking lot at the La Follette Municipal Building and then the bid for the TAP #2 sidewalk project grant for North Tennessee Avenue from Adams Construction for $613,355.75.

Three ordinances are slated to be voted on next week at the regular meeting beginning with Resolution 2026-15 amending the 2026-27 budget. Next is authorizing the City of La Follette to participate in PEP Risk Management Pool (Driver Safety) Loss Control Matching Grant Program, this is the third of five grants the city typically applies for yearly. Last is a capital outlay note for the City of La Follette from Tennessee Municipal Bond Fund not to exceed $1.5 million.

Public Works Director Casey Boshears addressed the council about needing to make a decision on how they want to move forward with the makeshift garbage bins. He would like to discuss the topic further at next month’s workshop. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/29/2026-6AM)
