La Follette man taken into custody in morning drug raid

Members of the Campbell County Sheriff's Department converged on this Bently Lane home about 9:30 AM Thursday morning.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - Deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office and the Sheriff's Special Weapons and Tactics Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 141 Bently Lane in La Follette this morning.


CASA hires new executive director

County commission to continue animal shelter, rock quarry talk Thursday at 6:30 pm

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - Monday's recessed Campbell County Commission meeting is set to continue tonight at 6:30 pm at the courthouse at Jacksboro.  The commission is expected to act on a newly proposed coating offer of not only the interior floors of the Baird Animal Shelter but the exterior kennel runs, doubling the area treated.  The full commission and public may learn of any results from a planned Tuesday conversation between the county, and its attorney, James Wright,  and the operator of the rock quarry located near Campbell County High School.

Approval given for behavioral medicine facility in Knoxville

MURFEESBORO, TN and KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – National HealthCare Corporation (“NHC”), Tennova Healthcare, The University of Tennessee Medical Center (“UTMC”) and Reliant Healthcare have announced the Health Services and Development Agency of the State of Tennessee has granted Certificate of Need approval for a 64 bed psychiatric hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. The facility, Knoxville Center for Behavioral Medicine, LLC, is the result of a partnership among NHC, Tennova, UTMC and Reliant.

‘I’m overwhelmed with the loss of Cowboy’ – JPD Chief Jeremy Goins

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The sad news of K-9 Cowboy’s passing hit hard Tuesday night.  Not only did his handler Jacksboro Chief of Police Jeremy Goins lose his beloved black Labrador Retriever, Campbell County and the United States lost a decorated officer as well.  Although it’s Chief Goins who is feeling the emotional brunt of the loss, others can relate, in particular Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins who was also very close to Cowboy.


Recessed county commission meeting is recessed - again

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - The Campbell County Commission recessed its regular February meeting from last Monday until this week in order to resolve a necessary spending resolution to reopen the county’s animal shelter. Then they were forced to recess again in order to review what is possibly a better offer.
