LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - The Campbell County Road Department had a quick response today around lunch time to a sink hole just off Old Middlesboro Hwy on Carr Wynn Rd.


‘I’m overwhelmed with the loss of Cowboy’ – JPD Chief Jeremy Goins

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The sad news of K-9 Cowboy’s passing hit hard Tuesday night.  Not only did his handler Jacksboro Chief of Police Jeremy Goins lose his beloved black Labrador Retriever, Campbell County and the United States lost a decorated officer as well.  Although it’s Chief Goins who is feeling the emotional brunt of the loss, others can relate, in particular Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins who was also very close to Cowboy.


Recessed county commission meeting is recessed - again

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - The Campbell County Commission recessed its regular February meeting from last Monday until this week in order to resolve a necessary spending resolution to reopen the county’s animal shelter. Then they were forced to recess again in order to review what is possibly a better offer.


Campbell County has 24 new business filings in 4th quarter of 2019

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) - Initial business filings continue year-over-year growth and don’t show any signs of slowing down, according to a reported released Tuesday by Secretary of State Tre Hargett’s office.

Jellico hosts North Greene Saturday night

JELLICO, TN (WLAF) - Win or lose in Tuesday night's District 2-A Tournament Championship, Jellico fans knew their Blue Devils would have, at least, one more game in the 2019-2020 basketball season.  The sudden death season begins for the Blue Devils when the North Greene Huskies, out of Greeneville, visit Lindsay Gym on Saturday night.


Early voting wraps up; next Tuesday is Super Tuesday

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - After Tuesday's last day of early voting where 188 votes were cast, the final early voting numbers total 886, which includes mail-ins and nursing home voters, in Tennessee's Presidential Primary.  All polls will be open across Campbell County for Super Tuesday, March 3.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - Several local middle school and high school students won in the Tennessee Bass Federation FLW High School and Junior Tournament held over the weekend on Norris Lake.  Winners took home rods, reels, bait, gift cards, trophies, scholarships and cash in prizes.


Signed petition opposing a homeless shelter presented at workshop

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - Monday evening, the City of LaFollette at its monthly workshop, received the 2019-year end audit results.  A representative from Pugh and Company summed the audit by saying “the city is in a steady, healthy financial position”.

Tennessee Supreme Court declines to hear big pharma appeal on I-75 corridor opioid suit

KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) — On Monday, Feb. 24, it was announced that the Tennessee Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from multiple opioid producer defendants that would have provided another opportunity for those companies to argue that they should be dismissed from the I-75 Corridor opioid lawsuit.
