LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Over the past year and a half, WLAF News ran into Bud Petitt a couple of different times, and we could not pass up the chance to write a story on the World War II Combat Veteran.  Today, we share all three of those stories.

ANTHRAS, TN (WLAF) – At his parents home at Anthras, near Eagan,  is where Edward Petitt was born on Sept. 25, 1921.    He kept the name Edward even though his father didn’t like the name and nicknamed him Bud.  That’s pretty much all he’s been called for the past 98 years.

Bud is the second oldest in a family of seven children born to Samuel and Vista Petitt.  That includes his older brother Everett along with two sisters and three other brothers.

The new Wynn High School, after being in Cotula, at Habersham is where Bud graduated.  He was a member of the first graduating class of the new school in 1939.

Today, we here at WLAF would like to celebrate one of our local World War II heroes on his special day.  Happy Birthday, Bud!
