JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) –   Campbell County Deputy Zachary Daugherty went to assist Jacksboro Police Officer Jordan Huskey on May 5 with a single vehicle crash at Eagle Mart.   As Daugherty arrived on the scene, he saw a 2000 model Chevrolet truck over a ditch with the hood of the vehicle in the creek. Huskey told Daugherty that Darryl Jay Stanford was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle when he arrived and refused to get out of the vehicle for a short period of time.

When Daugherty made contact with Stanford, he found him to be very unsteady on his feet and swaying. He then noticed an extreme odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the man and noticed his eyes were bloodshot. Stanford was asked what happened and he replied “h***, it was probably the alcohol.” And then began laughing, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Department. He was asked what alcohol he had consumed and he stated that he had consumed a pint of Vodka. Stanford’s speech was extremely slurred when he was speaking to Daugherty.

Found inside the vehicle were two hypodermic needles, a small cellophane wrapper containing a residue consistent to methamphetamine as a well as a pill container prescribed to someone else which contained two pills believed to be promethazine.

Stanford, 49, 238 Hwy 90, Duff is charged with driving under the influence (DUI), violation implied consent law, possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/15/2020-6AM)
