JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A mother’s worst nightmare unfolded today at 1:55 pm in the Wal-Mart parking lot just outside of lawn and garden. A child was fatally struck by a car.

“Medical aid began almost immediately by people around the young juvenile male who was just hit by a car,” Jacksboro Chief of Police Jeremy Goins said. The chief went on to say  the child was taken to the La Follette Medical Center and prepped to be flown to a Knoxville hospital.  “Before he could be flown out, he was pronounced dead at the La Follette Medical Center,” said Goins.

“The investigation is on going, and part of that will be reviewing video from the store’s cameras.  We’ve also been in touch with the district attorney’s office, which is standard procedure,” said Goins.  He added that “our eyes will be wide open throughout this investigation.”

“I pray the community will give the families involved the privacy they need at a time like this.  This is tragic for all involved; the child’s family, the person driving the car and the first responders,” Goins said,

“Thoughts and prayers are needed for everyone this tragic event touches,” said Goins.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/27/2020-7:30PM)

  1. There are not enough words to say to the Mother in the loss of her infant son. All we all can do is pray for her in this loss and remind her that God will supply the comfort she needs in this devastating loss. One positive statement to this Mom is that “Our loss is Heavens Gain.” That 2 year old no doubt experienced pain when hit by that car; however, he is not in any pain anymore. He is hand in hand with Jesus. To all those that are Saved, Born Again and Washed in the Blood of Jesus we will see him again in Heaven. To anyone not Saved, you better use this loss and get Saved if you want to see him again, and I know every family member and friend of this little boy desires to see him again. I did not know him personally, but he is now enjoying the things in Heaven that I am still awaiting to see. I will see him again. God bless the family in this hour of loss, and if they ever need to talk to me my email is listed below. My prayers are with the family and friends of this young boy.

  2. ONLY GOD AND THRU HIS PEOPLE CAN HELP THIS FAMILY. PRAY THAT SOMEONE WILL HAVE THE WORDS OF COMFORT FOR THEM…IT HURT SO BAD TO HEAR OF THIS,,,,MAY WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER MORE..AND THIS CHILD IS WITH JESUS WHO LOVED LITTLE CHILDREN..
