LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – With the postponement of the 2020 Kentucky Derby, also comes a postponement of CHET’s annual Down & Derby Party.

In a release from Olivia Lobertini with CHET’s Down & Derby Party:
Good morning!
Today, Churchill Downs announced the postponement of the 146th Kentucky Derby. The new date is September 5.  We wanted to make you aware of the change as this is also the new date for the 6th Annual Down & Derby Party benefiting Community Health of East Tennessee.
We have been working as a committee to make this transition as smooth as possible. Though we are disappointed the event has been postponed, we completely understand the need to be cautious and put public health first.
Interestingly enough, this is only the second time the Derby has been postponed; the first time was in 1945 when the U.S. government temporarily suspended racing nationwide.
We appreciate your support of CHET and are excited to see you in September. More information will come your way as we get closer to the new date.
Thank you again for your continued support!
Olivia Hope Lobertini
