LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Reports from LaFollete Police detail that on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at around 12:19 p.m.  LaFollette 911 Dispatch received a call of a shooting that occurred behind Woodson’s Mall (The Food City Center) in LaFollette.
  LaFollette Police Department and First Responders  arrived at the back of Food City, located inside of Woodson’s Mall at 2245 Jacksboro Pike in LaFollette, Tennessee.
The preliminary Investigation indicates that a 13 year old juvenile male, was sitting in the passenger side of his parents vehicle, when he took a 9mm handgun from the dashboard of the vehicle and accidentally shot himself in the left hand and leg.  This injury appears to be non life threatening according to LPD.
The victim was transported to UT Medical Center by ground ambulance for treatment.  LPD investigators are conferring with Campbell County District Attorney General Jared Effler concerning this incident.
