LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It’s business as usual today at La Follette Middle School.  Thursday and Friday brought uneasiness and investigation after a bomb threat was found scribbled on a boys’ bathroom stall in 7th grade hall.  The message was found on Thursday telling of a planned bombing on Friday.  No evidence of a bomb was found though school was dismissed Friday morning as a precaution while law enforcement swept the building for a third time since Thursday.

“We deemed the threat was not credible.  Aside from that, our investigation is on going as to who is responsible.  Once the person or persons responsible for this action is in custody, they will be charged with the maximum the law will allow,” said Campbell County Sheriff Robbie  Goins.  The sheriff  the hope is this will deter future threats.

This marks the second threat at LMS this school year.  The first was in early December when the threat of an impending shooting at the school, according to a report from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office was made.  The investigation quickly revealed that threat to not be credible.  As a result, three juveniles are facing charges of filing a false report/bomb threat.  Those individuals are no longer students at La Follette Middle School.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/27/2020-6AM)
