JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – On Jan. 14, Campbell County Deputy Anthony Mahar noticed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane. Mahar stopped the vehicle at the Exxon in Jellico. When he contacted the driver and the passenger identified as Rodney Steven Day both were giving conflicting stories about where they were going.

At this point, Campbell County Corporal Wayne Barton deployed K-9 Mya and told Mahar that Mya had a positive hit at the passenger door. A search of the car revealed a small corner of a clear bag with white crystal residue in it and a short red straw with a white crystal substance in it. Also found was a clear crystal-like substance believed to be meth in the passenger door that weighed .984 grams, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Department.

When Day was being booked into the jail, Correction Officer Hunter Creekmore asked if he had anything illegal on him, he allegedly said he did not. During the search and book in process Creekmore found three small crystal like substances in the pants pocket of the Day.

Day, 34, 5991 White Oak Road, White Oak is charged with possession of schedule II-controlled substance, intro contraband in penal institution, possession of drug paraphernalia and attachment child support.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/23/2020-6AM)
