LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- Campbell County Deputy Corey Laxton noticed Mark Anthony Pigg driving on Indian River Boat Dock Road, on Jan. 5, in a car without a license plate. He also knew Pigg was driving on a suspended license.

When Laxton attempted to stop Pigg, the man sped up and drove to his residence. Pigg then ran to the backyard before Laxton could catch him.  In the meantime, a check of Pigg’s license revealed it was suspended for his third count of failing to appear in court, the report said. While Laxton was running the check, the homeowner pulled into the driveway. During this time Laxton was joined by  CCSO Crpl. Travis Bostic. Once inside home, the officers  found Pigg behind a closed door.  He was asked several times to open the door, but refused to do so, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

The pair then told Pigg if he was in there attempting to use drugs,  he should put the needle down and open the door.  “I will come out in just a second,” Pigg allegedly said. Laxton continued to ask Pigg to open the door and Pigg said again “Give me just a second.”  When Pigg finally opened the door, he told police he had just arrived back home with some heroin he had purchased. Pigg had refused to open the door, because he was in the process of shooting up his heroin, he allegedly said.

Pigg, 37, 168 Cherokee Trail, Jacksboro is charged with possession of schedule I controlled substance, destruction of evidence, driving while suspended, violation registration law and resist stop frisk halt search.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 1/9/20 6AM)
