JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The  Caryville-Jacksboro Utilities Commission  (CJUC) hereby gives notice  that a  public  meeting will be held at 6:00 pm, Friday, December 20, 2019, at the Town of Jacksboro’s Municipal Building at 585 Main Street, Jacksboro, TN, to receive comments from residents within the CJUC Service Area on the commission’s updated WWTP Facilities Plan.    The plan supports CJUC’s efforts to apply for and receive a Clean Water (CW)   Loan   under   the   Tennessee   Department   of   Envronmental   Conservation’s   State   Revolving   Loan Program to rehabilitate the two existing clarifiers, to replace failing process equipment, and to replace inoperable plug valves at the Wastewater Treatment Plant located on Queener Road. The amount of the Loan is $493,000.   Other funding includes an ARC grant of $450,000 and CJUC funds of $175,000 for a total   project   cost   of   $1,118,000.     The   loan   will   impact   the   monthly   sewer   user   fees,   however,   CJUC approved and implemented a User Rate Increase with an effective date of October 1, 2019.

The purpose of the meeting is to give the residents within the  CJUC  Service  Area  an  opportunity to provide comments regarding the updated WWTP Facilities Plan, the project scope set forth in the plan, its need for   which the loan and other funding sources would address at the WWTP   and other plan alternatives considered.
