JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – At the November meeting for the Town of Jacksboro Mayor and Board of Aldermen, the resignation/retirement of veteran Chief of Police Danny Chapman was sadly accepted.

In that same meeting, immediately following the resignation/retirement of Chapman, Mayor June Forstner made the motion to promote JPD Detective Sgt. Cody Chapman, the son of Chief Danny Chapman, to chief at an hourly rate of $20. The motion died for lack of a second.

Right before the meeting adjourned, the board voted to advertise for the chief’s opening.  Since, six applicants applied ahead of last week’s deadline.  They are Franklin Ayers, Cody Chapman, Aaron Evans, Jeremy Goins, Anthony Lay and Daniel Smith.

Jacksboro’s next regular monthly meeting is tonight at 6 pm at the Jacksboro Municipal Building.  Speculation is mixed on whether or not a new chief will be voted upon.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/12/2019-6AM)
