LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) –  On Monday, Campbell County  Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck addressed  the upcoming snow storm.      According to Dilbeck, Campbell County road crews are “at the ready.” Dilbeck said the crews got prepared as far as vehicle maintenance several weeks ago when the first bit of snow hit the area. “We pull all the trucks in and put the plows on and make sure everything is in working order,” Dilbeck said. The county has 16 trucks, a motor grader and a back hoe with a plow on it, all ready to go.

Dilbeck said crews had already dealt with some downed trees due to high winds on Monday, and that he was expecting more trees to go down if it was a “wet slushy snow” on Tuesday night.  He said he had several crews on standby to handle trees should they go down. Dilbeck also said he planned to “load out several trucks” and let a few employees that live in the Jellico area take them home. “That way we will already have the trucks up there in some of the areas that usually get harder hit,” said Dilbeck.

The road superintendent said he planned to be out and about Tuesday evening to monitor the situation himself. “If the weather hits, I will call my guys and and get to scraping the roads. If it accumulates, we will keep scraping,” Dilbeck said, adding that if there were refreeze issues overnight, then roads would be treated with the gravel/salt mix the county uses. “We’re going to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/10/2019-6AM)
