LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Alco Builders & Realty has organized a winter clothing drive for the Pathways Resource Center. The business has pledged to match community donations of hats, scarves, gloves, socks and more through Dec. 20. “As it gets colder, there are many folks in need that go without these items, but you can help,” said Cameron McGhee with Alco Builders & Realty who is heading up the drive. The drive was organized by McGhee after he spoke with Roger Owens who directs the Pathways Center and learned of the “vast need for these items.”

“The biggest need this time of year is for warm clothes,” McGhee said, adding that monetary donations and checks for the drive could be made directly to Pathways Resource Center to purchase warm clothing.

Pathways is a local non-profit organization in La Follette that provides a warming shelter at the former West La Follette Elementary School when temps are below freezing for anyone who needs it. Pathways also feeds the homeless/hungry every day, rain or shine, warm or cold.

According to McGhee, the resource center gets some donations for food from many local churches, but they are always in need as they serve 20-40 everyday.  “Give them a call to see what food they may need,” McGhee said. Pathways Resource Center can be reached by calling 423-871-8013.

To help with the winter drive, donate scarves, gloves, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, hygiene items or anything else you can imagine someone would need.  For every item donated, one item will be donated to match it.  “This is a great way to help those in need,” McGhee said.

Drop-off location for donations is Alco Builders & Realty, located at 415 W Central Ave. La Follette (beside Dominos).  Its open 9 am to 5 pm Monday- Friday or you can call and McGhee said he could meet or pickup donations. He can be reached at 423.494.0740. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/03/2019-6AM)
