LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – In a release from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Public Information Officer Justin Letner notes:At approximately 8 am Friday morning, detectives with the CCSO executed a narcotics search warrant at 1883 Old Jacksboro Pike in La Follette, the home and business of Joe Ted Kitts. Over the past month, investigators made several buys of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) at the Old Jacksboro Pike address.

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team was activated to secure the location during the execution of the warrant. When the SWAT Team attempted to make entry, team members quickly realized that Kitts had barricaded the entrance to the building.  He then evaded officers by exiting the shop through a back door.

Soon, a foot pursuit began and the CCSO’s K-9 Unit was deployed.  Two- hours later, Corporal Travis Bostic and his K-9 partner Santo caught up with Kitts in the West Walden Street area of La Follette near the WLAF Studio.  Kitts was taken into custody without incident.

Sheriff Robbie Goins expedited the execution of the warrant due to the close proximity to several homes in the area. Goins said, “Meth or any other type of illegal drug being sold will not be tolerated period especially by those who are repeat offenders.”

Investigators found large quantities of narcotics evidence at Kitts tire shop. The 35-year old young man is currently in custody on a failure to appear warrant and evading arrest charge. The sheriff points out that this is an ongoing investigation, and findings will be presented to the Campbell County Grand Jury. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/22/2019-3PM)
