LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – For the second time this year, Zoyal Market has been denied a beer permit. The market made a second application when a church next door was being remodeled.  WATCH HERE.
   It was the opinion of Lafollette City Attorney Reid Troutman that the market did not fit the criteria for a permit. The market is located too close to the Mercy Church of God in the East Gate Center.

Ordinance 2019-05 amending the Occupational Safety and Health Program Plan had its final reading. Resolution 2019-11 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in the Public Entity Partners Loss Control Matching Grant Program was passed. Resolution 2019-12 amending the 2019-20 budget to reflect beautification donations, $3,000; other contractual services, $1,000; operating supplies, $1,000 and capital expenditures (general), $1,000 and a $17,000 fire truck repair. A special called meeting will be held on Monday (Sept 9) at 1 pm to open bids for road repairs at South 13th street and Loop Rd and for the approval of the fire truck repair as an emergency need.

LaFollette Fire Fighter Dylan Roach, who appears to be having issues getting all his required certification and is not on track to get certified, was on last night’s agenda but was postponed until next month. Joseph Gilbert was hired as a full-time fire fighter effective Sept. 14 at a salary of $30,686.13.

Councilman Bill Archer was not in attendance last night, Lafollette City Administrator Jimmy Jeffries noted that he was still recovering from surgery, but was doing well. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/04/2019-6AM)
