LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A 71-year- old La Follette man continues recovering this morning following a Friday night traffic accident in East La Follette.   Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Stephen Barclay outlined in his report that a 2015 Nissan Altima driven by 49-year- old Angela Shoffner of La Follette was stationary in the eastbound lane of travel on General Stiner Highway for unknown reasons.  Shoffner observed Alan Russell sitting in the roadway on a 2007 Suzuki V80 motorcycle and attempted to swerve and avoid Russell.  The trooper goes on to detail that Shoffner’s car struck Russell’s motorcycle with the left front end.  Russell was thrown from the bike and landed in the eastbound lane.  The motorcycle ended up ahead of Russell in the same lane while the Nissan stopped partially in the eastbound land and right shoulder.

According to the report, Russell was wearing a helmet while Shoffner and her lone passenger were wearing seat-belts.  Those in the car were not injured while Trooper Barclay described Russell as suffering incapacitating injuries and was flown by a medical helicopter to a Knoxville hospital.

Barclay wrote there were no indicators of impairment from Russell or Shoffner.  Russell was listed as out of the hospital as of this morning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/14/2019-6AM)
