Jacksboro, TN— Aug 13, 2019 — Today at the Campbell County Board of Education, Director of Schools, Jennifer Fields, announced the end of the embargo on 2018-2019 test score results.
“Our students, teachers, and administrators worked extremely hard last year, and we have now seen the fruits of that work. We are excited to share that news with the public,” said Director Fields.
Campbell County Public Schools was listed as “Satisfactory” for 2018-2019 after being labeled as “Needs Improvement” for 2017-2018. For special populations such as Students with Disabilities and Economically Disadvantaged, the district was labeled “Advancing,” an even higher distinction.
Individual schools were also lauded for their performance. Jacksboro Elementary, Jellico High School, and Wynn-Habersham Elementary were designated “Reward Schools” by the state. This is the first time Campbell County has ever had more than one reward school at a time. This designation is derived from a scoring system that looks at Achievement, Growth, Attendance, and for high schools only, Graduation Rate and College/Career Readiness.
“We are so proud of everyone at these schools for all that they did,” said Director Fields. “You don’t get to be a Reward School by accident; it takes a focused approach from everyone in the building from the Principal to the teachers to the students to the clerical staff to food service to the custodians. Everyone in the building shares in this award.”
LaFollette Middle School and Valley View Elementary School also received good news. Having being placed on a list for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) for their performance in 2017-2018, both schools performed well enough to be removed.
“I am thankful for the amount of time and energy our teachers and staff put into making sure students were successful,” Director Fields added. “Campbell County has talented teachers who want nothing but the best for our students and families. I cannot thank them enough for everything they do each and every day.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/13/2019-5PM)
