LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Day Two in the search for the body of a drowning victim begins at daylight Saturday morning on Norris Lake here in Campbell County.  The fun had already begun by late Friday afternoon when tragedy struck near the Cedar Creek Bridge on Norris Lake

Multiple agencies combed Norris Lake near the Cedar Creek Bridge from around 3:30 pm Friday afternoon until after dark for a 23-year old Ohio man after the 3 pm call to 911 Dispatch.  Members of rescue squads from La Follette, Jellico and Anderson County along with the TWRA, the Campbell County EMA, the Campbell County Rural Fire Service and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department are all playing roles in the recovery effort.

Body of drowning victim has NOT been recovered

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Searchers continue combing the Cedar Creek area of Norris Lake for the body of a young Ohio man this evening after the report of a possible drowning came in Friday afternoon a little after 3 pm.Not long after 5 pm Friday afternoon, one official told WLAF that the body had been recovered.  In fact, it was radioed in that it had after underwater equipment of the La Follette Rescue Squad made a discovery believed to be the body.

As a result, requested assistance from Anderson County and Jellico Rescue Squads was called off.  It was later learned that it was not a body that had been spotted.  However, before 8 pm, those squads were called back and are now on the scene near the Cedar Creek Bridge.

Mixed reports are that the 23-year old man fell from a boat while another said he jumped from the boat.
