KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – “We found out a lot about some guys tonight,” said Campbell Football Coach Justin Price.  His comments come after Thursday’s scrimmage between his Cougars and the Webb Spartans at Knoxville.Price explained, “Webb runs the Wing T offense, and it forces you to play disciplined.  Our linebackers and safeties did a great job with limited preparation.”  The 9th year head coach felt his team executed well even though the scrimmage was not game-like with each team running 10 plays at a time.

“Devlin (Dukes) is close to 100 percent,” Price said.  Dukes, a returning standout senior receiver, is recovering from an injury during spring practice.  The coach added that his team has a few other injuries to overcome.

CCHS’s home scrimmage is Thurs., Aug. 8, at 6 pm with Central.  On Friday, Aug. 16, the Cougars play Austin-East at Neyland Stadium in the KOC High School Kick-Off Classic. They play in the second quarter beginning at approximately 6:30 pm.

The Cougars open their 2019 season at home against the Cocke County Fighting Cocks, out of Newport, on Friday, Aug. 23. Kickoff is 7:30 pm with live radio, television and internet coverage over the WLAF – B & M Tires Sports Network beginning at 7 pm. Les Martin, the Voice of the Cougars, and Brent Allen bring you the action. Martin returns for his ninth season behind the mic.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/05/2019-6AM)
