LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It’s time to start another concert tour for the Jacksboro-based Christian/Worship Rock band “The Shine Effect.”  The four member group set up its equipment in the gym at the First Baptist Church of La Follette a couple of weeks ago practicing multiple days in preparation for its tour.

The Shine Effect’s six-week tour begins Wednesday evening at the First Baptist Church of La Follette.  The free performance starts at 6 pm.  Then it’s on to Olive Hill, Kentucky, for a Friday performance at 3 pm, at the Standout Festival.  After that Charleston, West Virginia, on Sunday.  Here’s a look at the six-state itinerary.

Adjusting lighting and sound checks and putting everything through the paces are part of what the group did last week.

The Roberts brothers and their wives make up the band.  Josh is married to Christa Hatmaker Roberts while Ben is married to Maria Blackwell Roberts.  The brothers spent several of their “growing up” years in Campbell County.  Their wives are natives both graduating from Campbell County High School; Christa in 2003 and Maria in 2014.

“Our band’s been going eight-plus years now.  We usually perform four to five times a week while on tour.  Our longest tour has been like three months,” Josh said. The Shine Effect has performed from Canada to Texas and throughout the southeast and up the east coast.

The FBC Gym has a special place in Josh and Maria’s hearts.  Josh popped the question in the gym, and they later had their wedding there.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/23/2019-6AM)
