LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Brief heavy rainfall fell in parts of Campbell County on Wednesday afternoon prompting quickly rising waters.  The area around the Marathon/Fazoli’s stop light flooded out (PHOTO ABOVE), and the potential for similar events loom again today.

Showers and thunderstorms today will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding in some spots. There is also a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms, with downburst winds possible.  The time frame for the best chance of the rain and storms is from 10 am until 3 pm.

Expect a mostly cloudy day today with numerous showers and thunderstorms in the late morning into the early afternoon.  There will be a high in the mid-80s and dewpoints topping out at 73-degrees.  Generally, it is considered fairly muggy when dew points are in the 60s.  Dewpoints beyond 70-degrees bring oppressive conditions, and that is the case today.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/11/2019-6AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF JERRY CHADWELL)
