LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – On and off duty officers with the La Follette Police Department teamed on Saturday evening to diffuse what had all the makings of a potentially deadly situation.     A reported burglary call ended up being a nearly four-hour standoff at a home on the west end of La Follette.   Around 5:30 pm Saturday afternoon is when officers with the La Follette Police Department arrived at 1015 West Central Avenue and began talking with a reported armed man inside the cream colored home (very top photo).  Rifle carrying LPD officers positioned themselves around the house as deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department were called in for assistance.

La Follette Chief of Police Bill Roehl said, “I’m proud of our officers and the professionalism they demonstrated Saturday afternoon on West Central Avenue. I also want thank all who provided assistance during the event, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, the La Follette Fire Department, the La Folltette Electric Department, Campbell County EMS and others.”  Roehl was also on site at the incident and adds, “Each played a significant role in bringing that stand-off to a successful conclusion.”
