LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A reported burglary call ended up being a nearly four-hour standoff on Saturday evening at a home on the west end of La Follette.   Around 5:30 pm Saturday afternoon is when officers with the La Follette Police Department arrived at 1015 West Central Avenue and began talking with a reported armed man inside the cream colored home.  Rifle carrying LPD officers positioned themselves around the house as deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department were called in for assistance.

Support from the La Follette Fire Department First Responders, the Campbell County Ambulance Service and LUB was staged the next block over on West Central Avenue at 21st Street.

The incident ended peacefully just after 9 pm Saturday night with 48-year old Timothy Williams being taken to the La Follette Medical Center for a mental evaluation.  Williams began being booked into the Campbell County Jail at 2 am Sunday morning.

Williams, who lists 1015 West Central Avenue as his residence, is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of violation of probation, aggravated burglary, attachment for child support and violation of an order of protection.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/07/2019-7AM)
