LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – -Deputy Justin Crabtree was advised on Sunday about a possible intoxicated driver. The driver was allegedly driving a black Ford Edge traveling towards Elk Valley from Old Middlesboro Hwy with his two daughters inside the vehicle.

When Crabtree located the vehicle, it was traveling by LaFollette Middle School. He began following the vehicle and noticed it cross the fog line into the turn lane then almost drive onto the side walk. Crabtree initiated a traffic stop where the driver hit the curb and finally came to a stop on the sidewalk, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Department.  Crabtree made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Brad Allen Murray, and his two daughters.  Murray allegedly had an extremely strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him. He had watery bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. When asked for his license, registration and insurance, Murray handed Crabtree his whole wallet. Murray was given a series of field sobriety tests, which Crabtree judged unsatisfactorily completed, and placed under arrest.

Murray, 38, 178 Douglas Branch Lane, Pioneer is charged with driving under the influence (DUI), two counts child endangerment and drivers to exercise due care.  As a result, Murray remains housed this morning in the Campbell County Jail under a half-million dollar bond and is scheduled to appear in court this morning.  According to jail records, this was his first arrest.
