LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “This storm was harder on the power system than the one two weeks ago,” said Kenny Baird.  Baird is the general manager for the La Follette Utility Board.  On Friday evening, June 7, 2019, a catastrophic rain and flood event hit La Follette knocking out power to more than 3,500 LUB customers.  Last Friday night’s storms, along with mid-day storms on Saturday, put more than 6,000 LUB customers in the dark.

From soon after 11 pm Friday night until around 3:30 pm Sunday afternoon, LUB crews worked to get their customers back online.  Baird said it beat his goal of 48-hours by nearly 8 hours.  “I hope we catch a break for the rest of the summer,” said Baird.
