LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Just as it was a sleepless night for the folks at LUB Friday night into Saturday as all hands are on deck to restore power after Friday night’s strong storms, more storms are expected today.  LUB General Manager Kenny Baird tells WLAF, “This storm was harder on the power system than the storm and flooding two weeks ago.”  Lots of trees came down during Friday night’s powerful storm and slammed LUB and more than 6,000 of its customers who were left in the dark.

As of this update, 1,930 customers remain without power.  The bulk of the outages stretches from Caryville through Jacksboro and La Follette all the way to Vanbebber Spring (up the valley).   Customers around Clairfield are still without power as well.

Baird adds that LUB crews are working as fast as they can to get you back online.  He expresses his appreciation to you for your patience and understanding.

Until at least noon today, strong to severe storm potential looms for Campbell County.  The main hazards are damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall producing localized flash flooding.   (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/22/2019-8:30AM-UPDATED 10:30 AM-UPDATED 06/22/2019-11:30AM-UPDATED 06/22/2019-12:25PM-PHOTO COURTESY OF CAMPBELL COUNTY RURAL FIRE SERVICE ASSISTANT CHIEF DANIEL LAWSON)
