If all goes as planned, the paving project, decades in the making, will likely conclude the paving phase on Stinking Creek Road later today.     Crews began the overlay, or finished coat of asphalt, on March 20, and all but a small portion of the 17 mile road is finished.  It runs from Highway 25W to I-75.

The pot holes, broken pavement, faded lines and years of need for paving finally received much needed attention.  Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck said the striping of the newly paved road will take place as soon as possible.  He and his crews will add the shoulder stone with everything wrapping up in a couple of weeks.

Stinking Creek Road is also a detour route when I-75 is under construction.

It was in the spring of 2016 when Dilbeck first approached Senator Ken Yager for help in getting Stinking Creek Road paved.  Yager credits the “Improve Act” for making the paving possible.  The act is the tax that was recently added to the state tax on gasoline.

Tentative plans for a ribbon cutting once the paving project is completed are set for May.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/18/2019-6AM)
