A vehicle traveling on Demory Road caught the eye of Deputy Zachary Daugherty last Friday.Daugherty was stopped at the intersection of Lake Drive Lane and Demory Road when he noticed a vehicle traveling at a slow rate of speed. Daugherty began to follow the vehicle and saw it cross over the centerline just before the White Bridge. Upon closer observation, Daugherty noticed the vehicle cross the centerline two more times, according to the report.

Daugherty was able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Rose Hill Drive and Kyle Street in LaFollette.  The driver of the vehicle, Payton Zane Oaks, was asked for his driver’s license during the traffic stop and allegedly told Daugherty that he did not have a drivers license. During this time, he noticed a smell of alcohol on Oaks breath. Oaks was given a series of field sobriety tests, which according to the report, he performed unsatisfactorily.

Oaks, 22, 510 South 7th Street, LaFollette, is charged with failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence (DUI). (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/11/2019-6AM)
