More details are emerging as the La Follette Police Department released its second statement surrounding Monday’s deadly officer involved shooting in east La Follette.

In the predawn of Monday morning just before 7 am, LPD officers responded to the call of a white female attempting to force her way into a home at 803 East Prospect St.  When officers arrived they spotted a person matching the description in a grassy area on Prospect St. near the home, according to the release.  As officers approached the suspect, she pulled what appeared to be a semi-automatic hand gun from the waist band of her trousers, the report said.  The suspect was given several verbal commands to “drop the gun.”  At that point, the suspect raised the gun and pointed it at one of the officers, and two officers fired upon the suspect as outlined in LPD’s release.

Those same officers immediately began providing medical assistance to the suspect until first responders with the La Follette Fire Department arrived and took over.  The woman was taken to the La Follette Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Lianna London

The suspect was identified as 28-year- old Lianna London, a white female, with an address, according to records at the Campbell County Jail, of Pack Street at Jacksboro.  The LPD report notes London has both local ties as well as ties to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

In the statement from the La Follette Police Department, the two officers involved were five-year veteran Sgt. Noah Riggs and Officer Shane Tielman.  Tielman has been a full-time policeman since July 2018.  Both officers, along with two-year veteran Officer Aaron Adkins, who was on scene, have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending completion of the initial investigation.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.  Its agents were soon on the scene near the corner of North Cumberland Ave. and East Prospect St. close to the East La Follette Baptist Church.
