Suspect pointed gun at officers. Would not follow requests to drop the gun.

In a release from the La Follette Police Department:  Today, 04/01/19, around 6:50 am, the La Follette Dispatch received a call regarding a female attempting to force entry into a home on East Prospect Street in La Follette. Upon arrival officers with the La Follette Police Department made contact with that female. The subject pulled what is believed to be a handgun from her waistband. After several requests to drop the gun by officers, the suspect pointed the gun at officers, and they were forced to fire striking the suspect.  Officers worked to secure the scene and immediately started performing life saving measures.  EMS arrived on scene and continued performing medical treatment to the suspect.  EMS transported the suspect to Tennova Hospital in La Follette where she was pronounced dead.  TBI is on location and will be conducting the investigation.
