It was quite a haul on Saturday; 185 bags of trash, 54 tires and much more.     Campbell County Litter Control Officer Glennis Monday led a group of 70-plus volunteers on a successful four-hour Norris Lake clean-up.

This area being cleaned is near the Cedar Creek Bridge.

Monday said other items picked up out of the lake and from the lake banks also includes one 20 yard dumpster loaded with Styrofoam, parts of docks, deep freezers, refrigerator parts, chairs, carpet and car tire inner tubes. Sugar Hollow Marina had three boats for volunteers while Willie Chadwell and his son Chris piloted and used his huge push boat to haul tires, trash and volunteers.

Nearly 200 orange bags were filled with trash.

More rain and flooding than usual for the winter months created a real challenge for the volunteers on this project.  Monday said once the lake levels dropped after all the rain, lots and lots of trash ended up in the lake and on the lake bank.  SEE more Charlie Hutson photos.

Monday sends out a big “thank you” to all who helped make the spring clean-up a success.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/01/2019-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
