With tax time and another government shutdown looming, many are left wondering what this means for their 2018 taxes and possible refunds.

People should proceed with filing their taxes, said Raymond McGhee, local tax preparer. The IRS has said another shutdown won’t affect the filing of taxes, according to McGhee.

“I have already filed some returns, and my clients have gotten their refunds,” he said. “A good rule is to file taxes as soon as possible.”

When preparing to file taxes, McGhee recommends people bring records of all of their income, any possible deductions and information on dependents including Social Security numbers.

In the event of another shutdown, the IRS will post more information on its site at www.irs.gov.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/05/2019-6AM)
