Sheriff Robbie Goins has his man.  Eddie Wayne Corner is in custody at this hour.

After several weeks of searching, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department arrested 44-year old Eddie Dewayne Corner late Sunday afternoon.  But Corner made ’em work for the collar.

Corporal Gary Jeffers and Deputy Jeff Partin made a stop at a home on Springfield Drive, just off Glade Springs Road in La Follette, attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant on Corner.

In the report, Jeffers details that the resident at the home on Springfield Drive, Vanessa Evans, the girlfriend of Corner, gave them consent to search the house for Corner with Evans stating that he was not there and hadn’t been for the last five days.  The officers searched the home not finding Corner, but Evans then told them that Corner was actually in the house hiding in the return air duct.

Once the grill and filter were removed, Corner was found in the duct.  Corner would not follow commands to come out, remained in the duct and after a brief struggle was out and handcuffed.

Corner, age 44 of Abby Lane in La Follette, faces charges of evading arrest, driving while revoked, felony evading arrest and reckless driving.  He is scheduled to go before the judge on Monday afternoon.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/14/2019-NOON)
