Sixteen teams are looking for four wins in four days.  However, only one team will accomplish that challenge this week at the 30th annual Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic at Greeneville, Tennessee.

All 29 games with teams from Tennessee, Kentucky and North Carolina participating take place at Greeneville’s legendary Hal Hernard Gym. Four teams from Kentucky join the eleven Tennessee teams and lone North Carolina representative to a Sweet 16-type event.

All five Greene County High School teams are in the mix.  That’s the 9 & 0 South Greene Rebels, the 0 & 9 Chuckey Doak Black Knights, the 10 & 2 North Greene Huskies, the 3 & 8 West Greene Buffaloes and the 5 & 5 host Greeneville Green Devils.

Out of Charlotte, NC, is Providence Day School.  The Lady Chargers are 6 & 6.  From Kentucky are the 4 & 4 Belfry Pirates along with George Rogers Clark’s 6 & 2 Lady Cardinals.  Also from Kentucky are the Bath County Lady Cats at 7 & 3 and the 8 & 2 Franklin County Lady Flyers.

Rounding out the teams from Tennessee are the 7 & 4 Daniel Boone Trailblazers, the Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats (11 & 2), 11 & 1 Morristown West, the 8 & 6 Sullivan Central Lady Cougars and the Jefferson County Lady Patriots with a mark of 9 & 4.  Campbell County, a newcomer to the tourney,  has the most wins of the 16 teams with 14 and has victories over Oak Ridge and Morristown West.

Campbell County takes on the Morristown West Lady Trojans in the second game of opening day on Wednesday (12/26) at 11:30 am. CCHS Head Coach Brad Honeycutt is excited for the opportunity to play in such a tradition rich tournament where a spot in the 16-team field does not come easily. The 5th year coach adds, “We’re thankful for the chance to compete against such tough competition.  We will be going in to our first game against Mo West, with 4 straight days off with no practices. I think it will be a positive though. It will allow our players to rest their minds and legs.”
