Ray Beaty, 87, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away on December 1, 2018, surrounded by his family at Erlanger Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1931, in Jacksboro, Tennessee, to Edgar and Mae Beaty.  He served in the United States Air Force for several years before ultimately moving his family to Signal Mountain.  He worked for Lucy Boiler for almost thirty years before retiring.  His retirement led to his passion for wood-working and he enjoyed making clocks and various pieces of furniture to share with his family, friends and several healthcare providers.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for fifty years, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and an Alhambra Shriner.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Thompson Beaty originally of La Follette and brother, J.C. Beaty of Jacksboro.

He is survived by his children Edward Beaty, Gail (Wesley) Barnett, and Debbie (Glenn) Broome all of Signal Mountain and 3 grandchildren Genna Barnett, Gayla Barnett of Signal Mountain and Jason (Donya) Charlesworth of Chattanooga. He also is survived by a sister, Louise Akins of Jacksboro, Tennessee.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the 4th floor trauma ICU of Erlanger Health Center for their wonderful care and compassion. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Lane Funeral Home-Ashland Terrace.  A masonic service will be held at 10am Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Lane Funeral Home-Ashland Terrace with committal to follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 11am.  Arrangements entrusted to Lane Funeral Home of Chattanooga.  This notice is a courtesy of Walters Funeral Home.
