The much anticipated “pulling of the curtain” on the 2018-2019 Lady Cougar Basketball season is just a few hours away.

All the starters from last year’s region semi-final team are back stirring memories of Sherry Chapman-led teams of the 80s and Jill Browning-led teams of the 90s.  Fifth-year Head Coach Brad Honeycutt notes that this is the first group of players to have gone through all four years with him.  The 2017-2018 squad did not have any seniors.

Honeycutt said, “It’s fun to see them (the seniors) and the excitement they have to finally get their senior year going.”

At Monday’s final practice before tonight’s home and  season opener with Oneida, the Lady Cougars put the finishing touches of their entrance and warm up routine.  It appeared that the only snag of the afternoon was when one player’s blue trunks went missing as Coach ‘Cutt was handing out uniforms for the season.

Aside from hoping for a great year, Honeycutt is quietly pleased that his team is healthy.  He says that staying healthy is his top unspoken goal.

Like Cougar Coach Darrell Cox, Honeycutt looks to the community for support for his team and the Cougars saying that the large crowds can really carry the teams.  Both coaches would love to see Brown Gym full tonight.  SEE THE SCHEDULE HERE.

The JV game tips at 4:30 pm followed by the Lady Cougars versus Oneida.  The Cougars play in the night cap at 7:30 pm.
