Former attorney Mark Troutman is on today’s criminal court docket.

In 2017, Troutman pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted theft over $60,000 and two counts of attempted theft  over $10,000.

In 2018, he is alleged to have violated the probation granted to him on those charges.

Troutman was to pay one of his victims $4,207.04 restitution but had fallen behind his monthly $100 payments, according to a petition to revoke Troutman’s probation that was filed by the Eighth Judicial District Attorney General’s office on Aug. 15.

As of that filing, Troutman had paid $900 to his victim, but he was $600 behind in payments.

He is scheduled for a review today to determine if he has caught up those payments.

In 2017, Troutman, who had been practicing law for over three decades, was given a 15-year probation term and 500 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to an elaborate scheme in which he used client’s monies for debts other than their own.

If the court opts to revoke his probation, Troutman could serve the balance of his sentence in jail.

His law license was suspended indefinitely following his 2017 plea.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/13/2018-6AM)

  1. I think he is testing the system. I’am sure he has the money or borrow it from relatives. Put him in jail.
