A woman’s inability to stay in her lane of traffic cost she and her daughter a trip to jail.

On Nov. 2, LaFollette Police Department officer Cory Lawson noticed a vehicle traveling on West Central Avenue merge into the turn median. The vehicle failed to use a turn signal and continued traveling through an intersection in the turn lane. A woman, later identified as Anna Margaret Johnson, continued to pass traffic almost striking some of the vehicles, according to the report. Johnson continued from Tennessee Avenue to several other streets merging back into the fast lane. She and her passenger, Anna Marissa Johnson, continued on East Central Avenue allegedly swerving along the way, passing a school and a park as they went, the report said.

When Lawson was able to stop the car and speak with the driver, she said she wasn’t paying attention to the road and didn’t see the median was marked. When asked if she had anything illegal inside her vehicle, Anna Margaret Johnson allegedly said she didn’t.  Lawson, assisted in the search by Officer Brandon Cairn, allegedly found a bag with a red grinder inside it that contained a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana with one hand rolled cigarette inside it. Both of the Johnson women said they had smoked marijuana, the report said.

As the officers continued searching they allegedly found a silver box filled with individual baggies, inside the baggies were an orange powder, chunks of pill and in several of the baggies there were round white pills with the powder. The Johnsons both said it was Methadone given to them at a clinic.

The clinic gave them all of the individual baggies with two separate milligrams of Methadone inside them, the duo told police. They were unable to produce prescriptions for the Methadone. Also found in the search was a pill bottle containing several 1 mg Clonazepam with two different colored pills with the marking C2 believed to be Clonazepam 2 mg.
