People might recognize Eva Sharp from  Calvary Baptist Church.  Or from Balloff’s Department Store.  Or the Boston Store.

Sharp lived a full 101 years; all in La Follette except for the past several years.  The woman who loved her hometown dearly  passed away on Monday and was laid to rest on Thursday at Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Sharp and her late husband, Ernest, lived in the white house next to Calvary Baptist Church on West Beech Street.  She taught Sunday School and Bible school classes at Calvary for years.

Bill Waddell knew Sharp since he became the pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in 1972.  Sharp was popular but most of all helpful to everybody, according to Waddell. She babysat his daughter and later one of his grandsons.  She was very active in the church and always worked well with the youth, he said.
